Attention all Family Dog Collectors! We are pleased to offer the FIRST EVER auction appearance of this poster IN HISTORY and of course the very FIRST CGC Graded example of this poster as well.

This lot will unquestionably draw more interest than any other lot in this sale since it's the FIRST time collectors have an equal chance to obtain this legendary Family Dog Set Breaker!

Lets start at the beginning and unpack this UNRIVALED OPPORTUNITY from the top down.

1) The FD-29 The Girl With The Green Hair has always been one of the most popular 1960's concert posters ever created. Designed by 2 of the "Big 5" Stanley Mouse and the late great Alton Kelley this poster comes on the heals of this dynamic duo's use...and massive success... of the Zig-Zag rolling papers logo used in the Family Dog #14. This time Mouse and Kelley used the Job rolling papers logo which was originally created by the legendary Alphonse Mucha.

2) We know that just 2000 total FD-29's of the Op-1 and the Op-2 were created.

3) A VERY limited number of OP-2's were created which omitted the woman's famous "green hair" that is found on the OP-1. The OP-2 is known as the girl with "platinum blonde hair"!

4) In an attempt to drill down to how many OP-2's were originally created we contacted the noted concert poster historian and expert that wrote the standard Collector's Guide on the subject Eric King. Here's what Mr. King says:

" In 50 years of doing this I have seen at least 3 copies of the FD-29 Op-2. I assume this means there is a couple more out there. If there was only one of them it would not be in The Guide. That there are several of them means that this was done deliberately by either Mouse or Kelley or possibly Frank Westlake. Since it was done deliberately and there are several known copies it is in the Guide as a variant. One piece of paper could stick and miss a color run of a printing plate maybe even two but when you get to five I think it means it was done deliberately. One rule of thumb I like to use about including variants is that there should be at least a handful perhaps five of something before it goes into the Guide. Many collectors use inclusion in the Guide as a want list item that they think they need to have a complete set. I don't want readers of my Guide to waste years looking for something they are unlikely ever to see. It makes collecting very frustrating."

5) History and facts seem to corroborate the extreme rarity of this issue. This is the FIRST example in ANY condition to appear at public auction...EVER.

6) In addition to this issue's unsurpassed rarity the quality of this specimen is SUPERB... and in our opinion MASSIVELY undergraded. We were expecting a grade of 9.6 or 9.8 as we see no flaws that are worthy of mention. Perhaps due to the extreme rarity and value of this poster CGC was exceedingly strict??? Regardless of the numerical grade attached this specimen must be considered for title of THE FINEST KNOWN.

7) It should be of no surprise to anyone that when this rarity surfaced it was due to a very interesting provenance. This poster was set aside 52 years ago at it's time of issuance and sat in a portfolio untouched in San Francisco for the past 5+ decades! We were contacted by the owner who was finally ready to part with their treasure and was attracted to the record prizes that trophy pieces such as this are commanding in today's market.

8) Due to the extreme rarity and true uniqueness of this offering any estimate of value would be nothing more than a wild guess. There are thousands of collectors building Family dog collections and several dozen advanced collectors that have been seeking this issue out over the past 52 years. We like the rest of the collectibles world will be watching closely what value is attached to this Family Dog Set Breaker. The only advice we can give prospective bidders is to bid on the assumption that this opportunity may never be repeated again. It will invariably take a "Stretch bid" to secure this poster in your collection. But history shows that today's "stretch bid" turns into tomorrow's supreme bargain. You can always make more money but the chance to acquire this legendary poster has never been available before today!
