Without a doubt the FINEST CGC Graded example of this glorious Big Brother handbill we have ever seen and only the third of this issue we have ever auctioned! Collectors regard this to be a Janis Joplin concert handbill because her image is front & center in the picture and she was definitely the “star of the show” by 1968. Notice that the band photo was taken by Linda Eastman the future wife of Beatle Paul McCartney.
This handbill advertises the GRAND OPENING of the Fillmore East on March 8th featuring Big Brother along with Tim Buckley and Albert King. In August 2018 a lower graded 9.0 example reached $690 in our auction. That alone shows us how difficult it is to find this treasured piece. This higher graded example here is in museum quality conditon with no visible flaws of any kind and no nicks cuts tears or pinholes. In any other collectibles market this 9.4 handbill would be worth many multiples of the previously sold 9.0 example.
