Here we have the very FIRST CGC auction appearance of this issue to be offered in our sale! This poster is the 8th produced by artist Victor Moscoso for his retinal burning Neon Rose series. It was printed in 1967 for Chicago blues legend Otis Rush for a run of shows at the Matrix in San Francisco. The design was based on a photo by Paul Ubac. We are very sad to hear about the passing of Otis Rush at the end of last month.
Victor Moscoso had an arrangement with the management of the Matrix to produce a series of posters for shows at this small club in the Marina. Of the approximately 2000 posters printed the club would use a few hundred for publicity. The bulk of the remaining posters were retained by the artist. Only first original pre-concert printings of this issue were produced no second printings exist. This example is in superb museum quality condition the best!
