In late 1969 bassist Billy Cox and Electric Flag drummer Buddy Miles joined forces with Jimi Hendrix and called themselves “Band of Gypsys”. The power trio played two nights at the legendary Fillmore East on new years 12/31-1969 and 1/1/1970. Although both nights were recorded it was decided that the January 1st recordings would be used for the live album released on March 25 1970. It truly was one of the best concerts ever.
Capitol Records issued and produced this large in-store promotional poster for retailers to advertise the original release of this classic and popular album. Jimi Hendrix material is one of the most popular items in the collectible market today. This is a very scarce musical treasure with history & eye-appeal! Only our strict grading standards keep it from being a perfect mint piece! When one considers its large size it’s amazing it remained in this good condition. We have never offered this rare issue before in our auction until now. Who knows when or if we will see it surface again.
