Here we have one of the more SCARCE magazine issues of the century! This is the original Rolling Stone Magazine Issue #124 which featured an iconic photo of Keith Moon on the cover and major article about the noted Who drummer.
There is also a historically significant article about former Hell’s Angels member George Wethern after several dead bodies were found on his property in Oakland. Wethern was technically Vice President of the charter for a number of years. He testified against other members of the club for the murders and was transferred with his wife and two children into the witness protection program to live under a false identity. Also included are articles about The Moody Blues Hippie Mafia and Lee Marvin. This is a very important issue in the vast cannon of Rolling Stone.
Rolling Stone Magazine celebrated their 50th Anniversary last year and a book as well as a HBO special has just been released. This has generated substantial interest in their early issues especially the major historic ones like this one here!
Date of this issue is December 21 1972.
This issue is not graded however it is in good condition considering its age and the fact that it’s on thin newsprint paper.
**IMPORTANT NOTE* From time to time bound volumes containing early Rolling Stone magazines do surface on the market. When they do they are ALWAYS quickly snapped up by eager collectors. LOOSE UNBOUND EARLY ROLLING STONE MAGAZINES are exponentially rarer and command multiples in value compared to bound copies with single issues bringing up to several hundred dollars each.
