This POSTER was designed by renowned concert poster artist Gunther Keiser for a series of 1969 shows in Germany. It is featured in The art of Rock plate # 3.185.
Due to the extreme popularity of this iconic image it is important to note there are several different versions and reprints of this poster circulating in the collectibles market.
Make no mistake about it this lot is in a completely different league than almost EVERY Hendrix Keiser poster offered for public sale. This lot is THE REAL DEAL!
Produced on super thin tissue like paper very few of these posters are known to exist in ANY condition. In the rare event that a specimen does surface it is invariably mounted on foam core (like this lot) or linen backed to prevent rapid deterioration.
This poster is 100% original with no restoration whatsoever. We have also thoroughly inspected this poster to confirm none of the edges have been trimmed.
In regards to value this issue last appeared at auction on 5/12/16. That specimen was RESTORED and had been removed from foam core and was linen backed. It realized $13 051.
We are aware of 2 different specimens that were not linen backed or mounted that traded privately for $40 000 to $50 000 each.
It will be interesting to see what value the market places on this poster today given the red hot collecting environment.
