Here we have an original COLBY Poster Printing Company specimen for a historic L.A. rock venue! This Halloween Weekend schedule for 1982 included heavy hitters like The JERRY GARCIA BAND Warren Zevon and The Cramps! Rissmiller’s Country Club was leased by concert promoters Steve Wolf and Jim Rissmiller in early 1979. They were the major promoters in Los Angeles at the time and therefore they were able to book premier shows of all types at the venue.
The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union. Original cardboard posters are super popular and remain one of the most highly sought after type of concert memorabilia ever known.
