This Cardboard Colby Printing Poster advertises the power trio ZZ Top at the Long Beach Arena in 1980. The Raunchy Blues triplet incorporated new wave punk rock and dance-rock into their ever changing sound. This concert was part of their “Expect No Quarter” Tour which was supporting their new album “Deguello”. The tour saw band members Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill sporting chest-length beards for the first time which years later became their signature image.

The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union. Original cardboard posters are super popular and remain one of the most highly sought after type of concert memorabilia ever known.
