Another FIRST TIMER in our auction! This vintage Cardboard Colby Printing Company Poster is for two performances by the legendary Donna Summer at Concord Pavilion. Summer was the undisputed queen of the late 1970’s Disco boom. Having just released her album “The Wanderer” a year prior these 1981 shows were part of the tour supporting that record. Many of the dates scheduled were to make up from a planned 1980 tour that was cancelled due in part to expecting her second child. Comedian Garry Shandling opened these Concord shows and he is listed on the poster.
The historic Colby Poster Printing Company produced promotional material between 1948 and 2012 and they became legendary for their signature fluorescent inks and bold all-caps typography although none of the original staff had any formal design training. They were members of the letterpress union the screen printers union and the typesetters union. Original cardboard posters are super popular and remain one of the most highly sought after type of concert memorabilia ever known.
