Collectors take heed! We couldn't be more thrilled to offer the FIRST CGC Graded example of this historic original poster in our auction! How about this for another first? The Magic Mountain Music Festival is considered to be the FIRST ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL! It was organized by radio station KFRC as a charity fundraiser & promotional event and took place in the late spring of 1967. The Monterey Pop Festival was a week later but this was no doubt the first of its kind when it comes to the future trend of outdoor concerts.

There is one number in collectibles that is instantly more sought after and valuable than any other number and that is the number ONE. ONE as in FIRST!! The first corvette the first Batman comic the first U.S. coin are all immediately recognizable due to the HISTORIC IMPORTANCE of the collectible in question. Anybody and everybody can understand THE FIRST and therefore THE FIRST ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL has an intrinsic desirability to people inside AND outside a collectible market.

At least 36 000 people attended the two-day concert and fair. After enjoying a scenic ride up the mountain from the Marin County Civic Center Mill Valley and other starting locations a giant Buddha Balloon greeted attendees when they arrived at the outdoor amphitheater. It was originally scheduled for June 3rd and 4th but was delayed one week by inclement weather and actually happened on June 10th and 11th.

Several acts booked for the original dates were unable to perform however The Doors were still able to squeeze it into their busy schedule. Even though they were double booked later in the evening on June 10th at The Fillmore the band played a good strong afternoon set with Jim Morrison swinging off a few flag poles while churning the crowd rather effectively! The Doors performance turned out to be one of the festival's biggest highlights.

In addition this Killer design by artist Stanley Mouse combined with its large size make this poster an absolute "Must Have" for any serious collection. This Pre-Concert First Printing issue is extremely rare and seldom surfaces at auction in ANY CONDITION. We have been handling posters a very long time and have only come across this piece ONCE prior. In December 2014 an example of similar condition realized only $644 in our mega sale which is a very low price point for such a historic rare poster. That was back before many people knew what CGC was. Since this poster was bootlegged over the years third party certification is a game changer nowadays. Premiums are on the rise for scarce issues like this lot when they become authenticated by CGC and it's an exciting time to be a part of this ever changing marketplace! We expect this piece to receive spirited bidding from folks who've been waiting YEARS for this issue to surface.
