We are proud to offer this super scarce original handbill for the FIRST time! This early piece advertises a benefit show for Peace Activists’ Defense at the old Jabberwok club in Berkeley at the end of August 1966. The Jabberwok started as a successful jazz club in the early sixties until it was purchased by Bill "Jolly Blue" Ehlert in 1965. Ehlert converted much of the venue’s performances to a more psychedelic sound. In 1966 Ehlert hired Jesse Cahn who had been a guest drummer for the Chambers Brothers to co-manage the Jabberwock while he ran the Matrix in San Francisco. Very few of these original handbills have survived the test of time in ANY condition. Our records show it has never appeared in any auction before now!
