We are pleased to offer this historically important Nirvana poster for the first time in our auction. The 1991 Reading Festival held in Berkshire England has gone down in folklore as an epic Nirvana moment for several reasons. This was the first of two times Nirvana played at Reading and it was certainly the largest audience they had performed in front of up to that point. This was also the fabled Nirvana concert which Dave Grohl has referred to as being the time Kurt Cobain dove into Grohl’s drum set during the show and seriously injured himself. Apparently Cobain had been drinking highly potent cough syrup throughout the day before their set. Their breakthrough “Nevermind” album had just been recorded in April 1991 and they were about to become a world-wide household name. Iggy Pop Sonic Youth Dinosaur Jr and Sisters of Mercy were also on the bill along with many others. This rare original printing poster is truly a historical moment in time!
