Wow! This lot is a real treat! This is the original FIRST Printing (Pink Lettering) concert program for The Rolling Stones FIRST United States tour in 1964! The first printing of this program differs from latter printings which have the blue lettering on the cover. The first printings mistakenly mixed up the photos of Brian Jones and Mick Jagger on the inside and fewer were made because the error was caught rather early. Therefore the first printings (like THIS one) are much more collectible and sought after. The Stones first US tour stories have been told and passed down through music folklore for generations. Bill Wyman often says in interviews the start of that tour was a disaster. They didn’t yet have any hits on US radiowaves. When they appeared on The Hollywood Palace Variety Show apparently Dean Martin mocked them and made fun of their hair and performance. However they shook it off and recorded for two days at Chess Studios in Chicago. While there they met many of their most important influences including Muddy Waters. Those Chess sessions included their cover version of Bobby and Shirley Womack's "It's All Over Now" which would become their first No. 1 hit in the UK. By the end of the year the Jagger/Richards original "Heart of Stone" with "What a Shame" as the B-side single went to No. 19 on the US charts. It wasn’t long after everyone in the country had heard the name “The Rolling Stones”!
