Attention BUDDY HOLLY collectors! Here we have an amazing artifact of years past we are offering for the first time! It’s the original official concert program for Alan Freed’s Third Anniversary Show. When Buddy Holly was in high school he met drummer Jerry Allison. In 1956 the two joined by Joe Mauldin and rhythm guitarist Niki Sullivan recorded a demo of the 1957 hit “That’ll Be The Day”. That single was originally to be released under the name Buddy Holly however he was still under contract with Decca Records and could not release the record under his name so they decided on the group name “The Crickets”. This powerful line up promoted by Alan Freed during late 1957 in Brooklyn showcased The Crickets along with such legendary names as Little Richard The Moonglows and Jimmie Rogers. Buddy Holly material has been collectible and sought after since the legend’s life was cut short in a tragic plane crash in February 1959. This original program is buried treasure in a sea of historic musical artifacts and is certain to spark collector’s interests!
