Attention Janis fans! It is a pleasure to offer a very rare opportunity to own what is considered by serious collectors to be amongst the most beautiful valuable and hardest to find Janis posters from the 1960's. This next to impossible to own GIANT sized silkscreen poster is one of a very few copies to survive the past 50 years and it’s only the SECOND example were have ever offered in our auction in the past 9 years and one of a few to EVER appear at public auction!

This 1968 Janis Joplin / Big Brother poster was created to advertise a one night appearance of the queen of Rock and Blues at the Alexandria (Virginia) Roller Rink.  Janis Joplin was at the height of her creative output at the time of this concert. In support was The Jeff Beck Group. Beck is universally known as one of the greatest guitar players to ever grace the stage. His band included such rock luminaries as Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood.

The poster was commissioned by promoter Durwood Settles and was designed by artist D.W. Beeghly. Beeghley is a renowned concert poster artist whose work is amongst the rarest and most sought after EVER produced. Beeghley's claim to fame was the ridiculous time effort and materials he invested to create true works of art that transcended the genre. First Beeghley created this poster in cardboard this was a work of art that Beeghley intended to last far beyond the actual concert date.  Second Beeghley created this poster in work in massive size something that was and is highly unusual. Third Beeghley created this poster as a hand pulled silkscreen that used stunning day glow fluorescent inks that dazzle under black light. (See attached photos)  The icing on the cake is that Beeghley produced under 200 of each of this postercand the survivial rate today is ridiculously low and seldom offered at ANY price.

All of these unusual steps were taken to create an important work of art that would be considered to be amongst the most beautiful and sought after rock and roll concert posters produced by ANYONE ANYWHERE. Beeghly succeeded in his goal as today 50 years later this is considered one of the most beautiful and desirable Janis posters ever created. It's important to note that Beeghley's poster for Hendrix rendered in the same style and the same incredible inks has traded for as much as $40 000!  In March 2015 we sold a heavily damaged example of this poster with multiple tears pinholes and lots of other major problems for $6929.00.

Clearly this World Class Museum Piece will instantly become a cornerstone in whichever collection it is added to. It will bring much pleasure now and even more with each passing year.
