This is a very psychedelic poster for the 1969 Berkeley Art Festival at the legendary Provo Park. Although free concerts at Golden Gate Park became common many Berkeley local bands decided to extend the idea to Provo Park. It became a sort of “hang out” for the Berkeley hippies and it was a great way to be part of the scene if you were a music lover not to mention a great way to get exposure if you played in a local band. Shows at Provo Park from 1967 – 1970 were casual. Folks would wander up to play or just to listen and psychedelic improvisation was a regular occurrence. Original posters from events there during this era are EXTREMELY rare much like this one by artist Eli Leon.
