This handbill from May of 1969 announced a three-day festival to be held at the Santa Clara fairgrounds in San Jose California. The handbill and the poster have the same image however the handbill is printed on a foil background with yellow and red colors.
Foil posters are super popular as few were issued and always enjoy top collector demand. Foil handbills are all but impossible to locate and are 100 times rarer than foil posters! A very SPECIAL opportunity that may not present itself again for a very long time!
This event featured a powerhouse performance by Jimi Hendrix– Led Zeppelin was billed but did not perform. Also in attendance were several legendary performers such as Chuck Berry Muddy Waters and Doc Watson. The image is an illustration by Linda C. Gull that was used for several festival posters in the sixties.
