Talk about rare "history in your hands"!
The first Angry Arts Week was held in Manhattan; it was a collective artist protest against the Vietnam War. A few months later Angry Arts Week West was a week of Art performances and exhibitions held in San Francisco continuing the resistance and protesting.
The front side of this handbill was for the Dance for Peace on April 11th at California Hall. The back of this handbill is a schedule listing all of the Angry Arts Week West sponsored events from April 9-15 1967. Angry Arts Week West started off with the concert at Longshoreman’s Hall featuring the bands Grateful Dead Big Brother and more! There is a poster for this show listed in the Art of Rock under #2.193.
