This DROP DEAD gorgeous psychedelic Hendrix poster is of utmost historical importance because it promotes a May 3 1969 show in Toronto Canada at the Maple Leaf Gardens. Hendrix made worldwide news headlines on this very day as he was arrested for drug possession on May 3 1969 as he entered Canada on the way to the performance.
The poster is one of the most beautiful of all Hendrix posters and is featured on page 49 of "The Overstreet Guide to Collecting Concert Posters."This poster is also extremely rare in ANY condition and the incredible example offered here must be included in any Finest Known Census. The poster is 100% Orifginal with no restoration of any kind. The colors are remarkably bold and fresh and this is example is free from any pinholes! Indeed just the tiniest nick in the the bottom right corner keeps this from being graded PAE Mint 95. The fact this poster has survived in this pristine state of preservation for the past 49 years is even more impressive given it's large size and relatively thin paper.
In regards to value just a handful of examples have appeared at auction in the past 15 years. On the low end this issue has realized $2500 for a heavily restored "Frankenstein Version" that was heavily damaged and put back together with added materials to the high end of $5700 for an example the cataloger graded "Very Fine". The lot offere her is clearly in a different universe quality wise to these examples.
