Posters from Jimi's 1968 Experience tour are universally recognized by collectors as being amongst the most desirable concert posters ever issued. Original First Print Printings from Jimi's July 30 1968 concert in Baton Rouge La. printed on white paper are particularly attractive and can bring well over $10 000 in top condition. A further testament to the desirability of this issue is the fact that this poster has been extensively bootlegged and these copies of course are of little value.
This lot features a gorgeous Limited Edition Printer's Proof that was produced by the artist. The poster was created on heavy tan vellum stock and has been signed and embossed by the artist. The poster remains in top condition with a small tear being the sole flaw keeping it from a much higher grade. This is just the second emboosed Limited Edition we have auctioned with the first having realized $1678 4 1/2 years ago in 11/2013.
