Peter Max was clearly one of the most visible artists of the 1960’s. His work is often sited in recollections of 1960’s popular culture. The mainstream media used his work as examples of” psychedelic Art” and his colorful renderings graced the covers of several mass market magazines during the day . Although he was not known for many concert posters his commercially produced posters got significant distribution and his contribution to the art of the era is undeniable.

In the early to mid sixties the artist opened a studio in New York with friend Tom Daly that was known as "The Daly & Max Studio." This early advertisement created for ”The Head Shop” an early East Village emporium was one of the first works by that studio. This flyer is a scarce artifact from that phase in his career.

This poster measures 9 7/16” x 11 3/4”. There are no nicks cuts tears pinholes or restoration of any kind. There is a ¼” tear on the top right edge and also horizontal crease through the middle additionally one pin hole in the top center tape pull on the reverse and moderate handling.

This poster has a reserve. The bids will appear in “RED “ until the Reserve is met.
