PAE is pleased to be able to offer a rare opportunity to own an original painting by the legendary Rick Griffin.
Rick Griffin’s association with the Grateful Dead is historic. He created some of the bands most memorable album covers and concert posters. His list of creations associated the band would list fill a museum show in itself. The Artist worked closely with the Dead until His Death in 1991.
One of his last projects was the cover Art for David Gans book “Conversations with the Dead. This was a collection of interviews by Gans and it is one of the best books ever written about the band.
This 16”x20”” acrylic painting was one of the studies that was presented to the publisher for the cover of the first printing of the book. The artist presented several designs and this canvas that we are offering was one of those options given to the publisher. The final painting that was used for the book is reproduced below.
Rick was a master painter and his brush strokes are a forever preserved on this canvas. This is a truly rare opportunity to own a beautiful piece of original art by one of the most beloved artists of the psychedelic era.
