This is just the second example of this vintage New York Pop Festival Program we have ever offered! The festival took place in the summer of 1970 during Jimi Hendrix's “Cry of Love” tour. This original program is filled with photos, concert schedules, and essays. The 3-day weekend went down in history, but not for all the right reasons. The producers of the festival, appropriately named Brave New World, had put together a truly impressive roster of bands including Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, Dr John, Jethro Tull, Joe Cocker, and more.

Unfortunately, the promoters ran into problems when the Black Panthers, White Panthers, Young Lords, and a dozen-plus activist groups created a bit of a fiasco around the event. The audience was tense, and over 30,000 got in for free when fences were kicked to the ground. The Hendrix performance was legendary nonetheless, and his version of “Red House” from July 17th (officially released on Reprise Records) has been celebrated by fans for decades. This original program is a true piece of history to be cherished.
