FD-2 is one of the earliest and scarcest San Francisco dance Hall handbills. It’s from the brief period when Chet Helms, who managed the Family, shared the Fillmore Auditorium with Bill Graham. It was a short-lived arrangement.

For this handbill, Chet served as the art director, and Wes Wilson was the illustrator. Helms’ influence on the early dog posters is evident. This quirky “King Kong”  is the second piece in the Family Dog Series. Early Family Dog items are scarce and valuable; print runs were tiny, and very few people saved them except a few freaks and the artists.
