This poster was been hand-written in pencil on the reverse by Phil Cushway, stating "According to Ram Rod the Dead played here after the Cheese Factory".
The Hells Angels were an integral part of the Haight -Ashbury community in 1966. Ken Kesey’s introduction to the Angels, facilitated by Hunter S. Thompson, was how the story began. Several Angels were invited to La Honda for Kesey’s early acid parties, and the Prankster/Angel friendship was born.
This Hells Angels Party featured a performance by Big Brother with Janis. It is believed that, although not billed, The Grateful Dead played this party. There is a note on the back of the poster by poster dealer Phil Cushway: "According to Ram Rod, the Dead played here after the Cheese Factory"- PC.
This poster was designed by resident Hells Angels artist Allen “Gut” Terk. Read the colorful story about Gut here. The poster is featured in The Art of Rock book, plate #2.247.
Condition: Tack holes, creases, note on back in pencil from Phil Cushway, tape on back, tears sealed from behind with tape.
