The album was titled by Jerry Garcia, who was a "shadow producer" of the album, and credited in the liner notes as Spiritual Advisor. The album contained the band's biggest hits, "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love", which would become the official anthem of 1967's Summer of Love.
