This ultra-scarce, original cardboard poster advertises Dr. Timothy Leary's appearances at the Berkeley Community Theatre on January 27th 1967, and the following evening at Winterland in San Francisco. These events took place just days after Leary instructed the crowd at the Human Be-In to "turn on, tune in, and drop out".

Timothy Leary, the outspoken and somewhat reckless advocate of psychedelic drug use, was a major figure in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. A one-time psychology professor at Harvard, he and his colleague Richard Alpert (Ram Dass) studied the effects of psilocybin and LSD, and were eventually fired from the prestigious Ivy League University. Leary became a pop culture figure and had a long run on the lecture circuit.

This stylized poster captures Leary at the height of his popularity. The swirling image of his face makes this one of the best-looking Leary posters ever made. The chances of another example of this poster surfacing any time soon are extremely unlikely. Bid accordingly; we may not see another one - ever!

Condition: Cardboard. 16 scattered pinholes, toning, marker on front, quarter inch tear left edge.
