This original program was produced for the 1973 Newport Jazz Festival, held in New York City, over 10 days. In 1972, the annual festival was moved from Newport, Rhode Island, to New York City. The festival moved back to Rhode Island in 1981. This event's lineup included legendary jazz and rock performers such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Sonny Rollins, Duke Ellington, and many more.
