This rare artifact comes from the first-ever tour the great Jerry Garcia played outside the Grateful Dead. Regarding scarcity, this poster ranks with any we have ever auctioned. HOOTEROLL? was an early Garcia side project with keyboardist Howard Wales. The project’s recording was released in 1971 before any of the Dead's solo projects. Its jazz-rock fusion spawned a brief tour in January of 1972 that has barely escaped obscurity. This poster was produced for the show in January 1972 in frigid Syracuse, New York. This date in the Grateful Dead timeline falls 2 days after Warner Brothers released the first Garcia solo album. The short-lived ensemble included Jerry Garcia on guitar, Howard Wales on keyboards, Jerry Love on drums, Jimmy Vincent on guitar, and Roger Troy (aka Jellyroll) on bass and vocals. This is only the second time we have EVER auctioned an example of this rare poster, the only ones we know to exist!
