This poster has been authenticated on the reverse by the Godfather of 1960s Psychedelic Concert Posters, Eric King! The lightly penciled inscription represents what concert poster authentication looked like prior to CGCs authentication of these items (See photo).
This is the Original Pre-Concert OP-1-A version of this incredible poster! As history reflects, the Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead were the two top bands of the San Francisco psychedelic scene. Although both groups were immensely talented and made marked contributions to musical innovation, they took different paths. The Airplane was the critics' darlings and "looked the part" for the press. Of all the SF bands of the day, the Airplane was the first to land a big record contract and received relative fame and fortune.
The Dead, on the other hand, was rough, scruffy, unphotogenic, and not immediately successful. Yet time has proven their impact and significance on the history of music, as their genre is actively emulated in today's jam band scene. This poster utilizes the classic photographs of master photographer Herb Greene, along with Wilson's classic lettering, to create a lasting homage to these legendary bands.
