This uncommon, original cardboard Globe printing poster from September 1963 advertised a big event featuring Solomon Burke, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Mary Wells and more. It was held at the Greensboro Coliseum. Solomon Burke was one of the fathers of 1960s soul music. Though his contributions to the genre are often overshadowed due to the wild success of legends such as James Brown and Otis Redding, Burke produced a number of hits between 1962 and 1965 and had a performance career that spanned 55 years. He has been dubbed the "King of Rock 'n' Soul". This is the ONLY example of this extremely rare R&B Globe poster we have ever seen or auctioned.
