This cardboard poster announced a performance by The Coasters at Sweets Ballroom in Oakland on May 6th, 1959. The group had released a number of hits since '57, including "Searchin'," "Yakety-Yak," "Charlie Brown," and more. They were joined by Ernie Freeman and His Orchestra for this show. This poster was produced by the Tilghman Press company out of Oakland, CA. Their promotional material had a consistent and familiar appearance to them, similar to classic boxing-style concert items from the early days of rock n roll. Very few original Tilghman Press posters exist today because they were printed in extremely small quantities!
