This original poster was designed by artist John Van Hamersveld, and it is a favorite among Velvet Underground collectors. The Chambers Brothers, Dr John the Night Tripper, and the incredibly influential and edgy Velvet Underground took the stage at The Shrine in Los Angeles for 2 nights at the end of May in 1968. It was produced as part of the Pinnacle Dance Concert Series, and it's a lasting tribute to those events. John Van Hamersveld, Marc Chase, and Sepp Donahower were heavily involved in Pinnacle and produced some of the most powerful and electrifying concerts in the history of Rock music at the Shrine in the late 60's. This illustration portrays Lou Reed's groundbreaking band in a whimsically light comic book style and is illustrated in the Art of Rock on page 254. Rarely surfacing at public auctions, this lot is certainly not one to be overlooked!
Condition Details: Restoration includes filled pinholes and tears, reinforcements. Toning, foxing.
