This rare cardboard issue announced Aretha Franklin appearing at the Charlotte Coliseum on September 29th, 1968. Franklin became a star in the late 1960s with several hits. She remains one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, and although she passed away a few years ago, her legacy will continue to live on. She had released thirteen studio albums at this point in her career.
This is a CARDBOARD GLOBE poster, and Globe posters are universally considered among the most desirable concert posters EVER issued. From its opening in 1929 until its closure in 2010, Globe Poster Company in Baltimore was the go-to place for musicians, circuses, drag races, and concert producers for bold, eye-catching letterpress advertising. It's no secret that Globe cardboard concert posters are the gold standard amongst advanced collectors. They rarely show up at public auction, and when they do, they are always met with enthusiastic bidding!
