This amazing, rare issue was produced to promote Bruce Springsteen's legendary October 1975 run at The Roxy in Los Angeles. The poster doubles as a promotional issue for the Born to Run album, which had just been released two months prior. The record was Springsteen's third studio album, released on August 25th, 1975. It was a huge commercial success and has gone on to be widely considered one of the greatest albums of all time.
These shows at the Roxy were a big deal. Springsteen was reaching the height of his fame, and would become the first artist to appear simultaneously on the covers of Newsweek and Time Magazine this very same month. The level of hype and publicity surrounding him and the album's release caused many individuals in the media to call Springsteen's legitimacy as an artist into question, labeling him as an "industry plant". However, none of this ultimately stopped the album from going down as one of history's greatest, and Springsteen, along with it. This run at The Roxy featured six shows over the course of four nights and attracted all manner of celebrities in attendance. A sparse, haunting rendition of "Thunder Road" that opens the Live 1975–85 box set was recorded during the October 18th early show. The performances are credited with causing Springsteen to gain footing on the West Coast.
