This RARE original handbill announced the 13th Floor Elevators appearing at the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, California, on October 15th, 1966. The band had just formed the year prior and would release their debut album, The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators, just TWO days after this concert! The album featured what would be the band's only charting hit, "You're Gonna Miss Me", which peaked at number 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Hailing from Austin, Texas, the 13th Floor Elevators were a major innovator of '60s Rock & the San Francisco Sound, and their influence has been far-reaching. Led by Rogers Kynard AKA "Roky" Erickson, the band was the first to use the term "psychedelic rock" to describe their sound. This handbill has NEVER appeared in our auction before and likely won't be made available to the public again for quite a while!
Condition: crease, pinhole, stain, corner bump.
