This poster for Quicksilver Messenger Service at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland is a wish list item for collectors of this essential San Francisco Psychedelic Rock band. Printed on thin, glossy paper, this poster has survived in only scant quantities. This copy has a few scrapes and dings but is relatively undamaged, especially given the low print run and the paper stock's fragility.
The Family Dog’s tenure in the Pacific Northwest at the Crystal Ballroom was brief, as Chet Helm’s organization only staged 4 shows at the venue. The paper artifacts left behind are few, with this poster being the crown jewel. The piece features a collage of Quicksilver members with a hovering background image of guitarist John Cippolina. Cippolina was among the most acclaimed guitar players of the San Francisco scene and played a major role in shaping the band’s sound.
Condition: Half inch vertical tear top right corner, staple holes and tack holes, creases, handling. Education Activities Office stamp bottom right.
