This poster for an Iron Butterfly show at the Avalon with The Velvet Underground in support is one of the most frequently requested posters from the Family Dog series. It is interesting that the Velvet Underground was not the headliner. We imagine that at the time Iron Butterfly was considered more of a draw. This show was just a week before the release of the band’s best selling album In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida which contained a 17-minute version of the title song.
This is the VERY FINEST CGC graded example of this poster to ever appear at public auction and what a mind boggling example it is. This poster is for the collector that wants the best--the best artist in the best condition! Posters graded a perfect 10 are VERY undervalued at today's price levels compared to the premiums that 10's bring in ANY other collectible. This situation won't last long.
