This original first-printing poster is just one of the very few French examples of the Montreal venue stop from the Festival Express run to ever appear in our auction. It is the RAREST of the Trans-Continental Pop Festival posters! This poster advertises the first stop of the run at The Autostade Stadium in Montreal Canada on June 24th, 1970, which was ultimately canceled. The Dead (not listed on this version of the lineup) played the Capitol Theater that night. A few days later, the whole lineup including the GD began the train run in Toronto.

Here we have a relic from one of the more exciting events in the history of Rock and Roll. Originally billed as the Trans-Continental Pop Festival, this cross-country tour made stops in three Canadian cities to stage a show with the Grateful Dead, The Band, Janis Joplin, and other acts of the day. The real story however was the train that carried the musicians across Canada during that summer. The camaraderie led to an outrageous non-stop party/ jam session. The joy is forever captured in the 2003 Film "Festival Express".

Condition: Some attempted restoration, creases, stains, surface wear, toning.
