Starting bid: $10.00
This rare David Singer issue was produced for a two-day run at Winterland on October 4th and 5th, a Sunday and a Monday, in 1970. The bill included Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Hot Tuna, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. However, though not listed, the New Riders were replaced with Quicksilver Messenger Service. All four bands had released studio albums within the year: The Dead's Workingman's Dead, The Airplane's Volunteers, Quicksilver's Just for Love, and Hot Tuna's debut self-titled LP.
This show was of note for several reasons, one of them being that this was the final time that The Dead and Quicksilver shared the stage. The two bands had come up in the same 1960s psychedelic scene in San Francisco, both having formed in 1965. Another reason was that Janis Joplin's untimely death occurred on October 4th. Her influence and impact on the San Francisco psychedelic scene cannot be understated, and it was surely a great loss to every performer playing this run. This poster was never reprinted, making this the only printing available. It may be quite some time before we see another- bid accordingly!
