Here we are offering a true relic and a true collectors item for any serious Fillmore collector.
In the mid seventies Bill Grahams merchandising wing Winterland Productions produced a series of mirrors that were adhered to reprints of famous Bill Graham posters. The posters were sandwiched between a mirrored front and a hard cardboard backing. They were sold at The Rock shop in San Francisco and distributed to a few record stores nationwide. Very few of these exist today. The nature of glass to crack and shatter has taken most of these.. If more than a handful are still around we’d be very surprised. The one we are offering is from the most famous poster of the entire Bill Graham series let alone the entire body of poster art. The mirror surface sits atop of an actual BG 105 reprint (likely RP -2) and has been preserved under glass for all these years. BG 105 –RP-2 interestingly enough shows up less often for sale that the first print. This mirror/poster was in our September 2011 auction but did not reach reserve.
We are starting this piece at a higher minimum with NO RESEVE.
The mirror measure 14 & 1/4” x 22 1/4”. The visible poster underneath shows a bit of waviness the outer frame is loose and removable. The backing is slightly wavy as well.
