Rare. First one we've auctioned. This example has a handwritten note in top left corner.
The Grateful Dead / Hells Angels "friendship" is historic, and it dates back to the early Prankster days. Over the years, The Dead and Garcia played several performances for parties hosted by the most well-known motorcycle club of all time. The show advertised on this rare poster, which appears in the Art of Rock plate number 4.222, was presented by the Hells Angels at the Academy of Music in New York City on March 25th, 1972. Bo Diddley was also on the bill.
Aside from being the first example of this poster we have offered in our auction, this poster is special due to a HANDWRITTEN note by a Hells Angel in the upper right corner. It reads "Clark, it's brothers like you that makes HA a brotherhood and grow strong. -Mohawks Forever-" along with a signature. A very special, unique poster that should not be overlooked!
Condition: Handwritten note top left, holes, tears, tape, handling.
