1967-Grande Ballroom-Cream Concert Poster-CGC Graded 8.0

This legendary poster is universally acknowledged as one of the most desirable and difficult to locate 1960’s concert posters ever produced—IN ANY CONDITION.  Collectors around the world affectionately refer to this World Class Rarity as "The Creamsicle”. A giant image of this poster is featured in The Art of Rock plate #3.132.

This poster was issued to promote the first appearance of Eric Clapton's band Cream at Detroit’s famed Grande Ballroom in October of 1967. Grande Ballroom posters were produced in quantities of less than 1000 pieces. To make matters worse this poster is large in size and was produced on extremely thin highly fragile paper. We believe that less than a half a dozen copies exist today in undamged condition. A huge percentage of surviving copies have restoration of one sort or another.  This is surely the second finest we have handled in the past 10 years..

“The Creamsicle” is one of the most sought after posters of the era. Used and damaged copies routinely bring many thousands of dollars. For example a damaged and restored copy that was NOT independently authenticated and graded was cataloged as having “two minor edge tears that were sealed and a tiny edge ding.” That copy brought $7377 on 2/19/17. 

The poster offered here is ridiculously under graded and will represent a wonderful bargain and opportunity for one luck collector. The colors of this poster are bold and bright. The borders of this poster are 100% complete with no nicks cuts or tears. The poster is 100% free of all pinholes and it is 100% Original with no restoration. The only flaws is a very light crease in the top right corner and a slight trace of handling on the right edge. That's it! This is the quality that is often sold as "Mint" but CGC is notoriously strict on famous ultra rare and ultra valuable posters such as this.
