This poster announced the first annual Saugatuck Pop Festival, held on the fourth of July in 1968 at Pottawattami Beach in Saugatuck, Michigan. The event included performances by the Amboy Dukes, the band best known for launching the career of guitarist Ted Nugent, who became a prominent figure in rock music, along with MC5, Rationals, Flock, and many more. We love posters from Michigan in the 1960s, as they had their own psychedelic music poster style reminiscent of what was happening in San Francisco at the same time. Many of these posters are beautiful and highly collectible, and this is the first of this issue to appear in our auction!
