This lot features original press kit items created by CBS Records in 1981 for the late David Johansen. Johansen was best known as the frontman of the New York Dolls, one of the most influential bands of the early 1970s. They are considered to have been one of the first-ever punk bands, and though they never achieved mainstream success, they are truly legends. Their first two albums are some of the greatest of all time. After the Dolls disbanded, Johansen reinvented himself in the late '70s as a solo artist, blending rock, R&B, and cabaret influences. Then in the 1980s, he took on yet another persona: Buster Poindexter, a tuxedoed lounge singer who found surprise success with the hit "Hot Hot Hot." The world lost Johansen just earlier this year at the age of 75. These are fantastic insider-items!
