Spike Jones and His City Slickers, often billed as delivering “Musical Insanities,” were a wildly inventive and hilarious novelty band that satirized pop music, classical works, and radio culture in the 1940s and ’50s. This cardboard poster announced their appearance at The Arcadio Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois, on October 23rd, 1954. Original cardboard posters are super popular and remain one of the most highly sought-after types of concert memorabilia ever known. We've never auctioned another example of this poster before!
