Original program for The FIRST ANNUAL Monterey Jazz Festival in October 1958. The festival, founded by San Francisco jazz radio broadcaster Jimmy Lyons and famous music critic Ralph J. Gleason, was historic in its own right, this first-ever year showcasing the talents of jazz greats, including Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, and more! The great Dave Brubeck assisted in getting the city of Monterey to approve the festival. Interestingly, the event preceded the legendary Monterey Pop Festival, held in the same location, by nearly a decade. These jazz legends heavily influenced the rock n' roll of the sixties that was to come. The Monterey Jazz Festival still continues on annually to this day in the very same location. This is an absolutely incredible piece of history that is quite rare to come by. Don't miss your chance to bid!
