Dave Brubeck was a groundbreaking American jazz pianist and composer best known for expanding the rhythmic and harmonic boundaries of modern jazz. He rose to prominence in the 1950s and '60s with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, especially alongside saxophonist Paul Desmond. Their 1959 album "Time Out" became one of the most influential and best-selling jazz records of all time, featuring the iconic track “Take Five,” written by Desmond. What made Brubeck stand out was his use of unusual time signatures. He was also considered to be part of the West Coast "cool jazz" movement.

This handbill was produced for the Dave Brubeck Quartet appearing at Carnegie Hall in New York on February 21st, 1962. The show was recorded by Columbia Records and released later that year as the live album "At Carnegie Hall". The album was widely regarded as one of the greatest live jazz albums of the decade. That alone makes this a historic piece of jazz history!

His famous live album was recorded at this show!
