Blues Hall of Famer Freddie King had an impressive and yet too-short career. He inspired countless guitarists across the globe with this distinctive style and technique. His life was cut short at the young age of 42 due to complications from acute pancreatitis and a heavy road touring lifestyle. King was on the road almost 300 days out of the year. This poster announced his appearance at the Armadillo World Headquarters on Halloween 1976 with John Hammond.
The Armadillo World Headquarters opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premier venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. This legendary club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10-year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere.
