Combining this legendary venue with the incomparable Frank Zappa makes for a concert poster of extreme desirability. This Guy Juke issue promoted Zappa's appearance at the Armadillo World Headquarters on September 13th, 1977. This was the first year since 1969 that Zappa did not release new music, but he would release dozens more albums in his lifetime before his death in 1993.
The Armadillo opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premier venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. The legendary music club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10-year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere!
